A cuff-link collector wanted to display and store 180 pairs of cuff-links. This case was designed to do that in a restrained manner. The woods and style were chosen to complement the buyers’ furniture, with a little pizzazz. The glass is german water glass – colourless but with a very slight pattern to diffuse the view when not seen straight on. The box edges and knobs are inlaid with ebony.
A second box was made and fitted out as a more traditional jewelry box. It holds watches or pens, rings or cuff-links, pocket watches or pendants, earrings or tie-tacks.
The overall design was very successful and would work as well in a three drawer configuration without the glass top. A lock could also be built into the case. Some other combinations of woods appropriate for this case can be found here.
