Bonsai Jewelry Cabinet
enamel and veneer
This piece was commissioned as a present for a spouse who loved Bonsai. In a happy coincidence Dave and Elizabeth had just returned from Japan, where Dave was inspired by the beautiful sculptural trees in parks.
The tree is composed of layered enamel pieces and marquetry on a hemlock field. The interior, fitted in the style of a tansu, features mulberry drawer fronts and hardware handmade in Japan. The interlocking walnut base structure was inspired by a visit to a Shinto shrine.
Cabinet of Curiosities
VENEER & INLAID BRASS
Inspired by the elevators doors of the Art Deco masterpiece the Chrysler Building, this front cabinet features 7 sleek dovetailed drawers of increasing size to house and display the owner's extensive collection of objet d'art. Each veneered drawer front forms part of the overall fan pattern, complete with an inlaid brass fan at the top. Petite brass knobs inset with matching mahogany complete the striking geometric composition.
Federal Style Nightstands
flame mahogany veneer
Frustrated by endless searching for elegant bedside tables that would suit her space and chasing antiques that were never quite right, this client came to Heller&Heller knowing exactly what she wanted. The tables feature turned legs and a four way bookmatched top with a traditional Federal fan motif, and solid brass hardware

Art Deco Horseshoe Table
silver sycamore veneer
Dave built this piece for himself, both to explore wrapping veneer around curved and faceted base and his love of Art Deco geometric patterns.
